World-famous Kalalau Trail, a narrow and difficult 11-mile hiking path that ends at the Na Pali Coast's first valley Kalalau, begins at Ke'e Beach State Park's parking area.  The early Polynesians who built the necessary trail to use... during the winter months grew taro and lived a sustainable life in the valleys.  Most day-trippers today will hike the tiring first two miles to Hanakapiai Beach, with an additional side excursion to Hanakapiai Falls.
